Sora has had a busy week. She had another bath on Wednesday and while her nurse was taking off the cuff on her foot it caught and then we accidentally popped her in the face. My hand was right behind her head and I didn’t even feel it so I know it more surprised her than anything but her little cry was so sad. We laughed because Sora then would not take her eyes off Dallin. No matter where he stood around her she stared him down.
After her bath she got cold, really cold. She has had a harder time this last week holding her temperature and when she gets cold she has a moderate A and B. It happened 3 times this week. Twice from being cold and once from being turned down too low on her oxygen. We know and all her nurses know that even if she is high at 24% never turn her down to 23% because she always crashes. The nurse that turned her down was just keeping watch as Sora’s nurse was getting lunch.
I am really done with these moderate As and Bs because it is horrifying seeing your baby turn blue. Friday I sat with her under a heat lamp and she did it over and over for 30 minutes. We expect to have bad days and we are so blessed that we really have not had many. Sora is an amazing little girl and we are so excited to be witnessing her grow and learn so much.
Today she got to try bottle feeding for the first time and she did great! They don’t expect too much from the first time trying and warned us that it might be a struggle. So we prepared ourselves mentally and hoped for the best. Then when we tried, she did great! She took right to it and got 23 of her 33 milliliters. She didn’t desat on oxygen or have any A+Bs. She just went into a nice milk coma and was happy to be held.
